Today, we’d like to share with you the world premiere of Seattle musician/composer Oliver Franklin‘s new music video for “Silas,” the lead single off of his 2015 LP The Last Man. Directed by Ben Rapson, the music video for “Silas” is a multi-faceted feast for the eyes, frequently switching around between footage of Franklin lip-syncing the song’s lyrics, footage of strange mime-like people in paper masks and white makeup, and later on, footage of Franklin and his backing band performing the song in similar bizarre outfits and masks, conceptually twisting and turning along with the layered and instrumentally-rich song it’s accompanying.
The stimulating, often surprising music video has insane production value and impressive art direction. The music video for “Silas” was appropriately released to help tease towards Oliver Franklin’s vinyl release party for The Last Man at the Columbia City Theatre, which Franklin promises to be just as eventful, unique and surprising. The release party is set for April 28th, during which time Franklin and his band will be joined by Seattle prog-rockers the General Mojo’s. You can find out more information about that event here.
Check out the music video below, and even watch it in 4K resolution if you’re from the future and are into that sort of thing.
