Pearl Jam‘s Eddie Vedder made a surprise appearance at Seattle’s Easy Street Records Saturday when he joined reunited proto-punk group The Sonics for that band’s Record Store Day performance. He wasn’t the only rockstar to show up and sit-in though. As you can see from the names on the setlist it was a star-studded event. The Sonics‘ gig, which benefited KEXP, promised “very special guests,” and did it ever.
A partial list of the performers in addition to The Sonics:
Chris Ballew, Mark Pickerel, Calvin Johnson, Emily Nokes, Ben Shepherd, Big Kahuna(Girl Trouble), Rod Moody, Mike McCready, Eddie Vedder, Matt Lukin, Van Conner ,original Sonic Andy Parypa and more.
Another very special guest was Jason Kertson, who has made quite a name for himself in the northwest. The teenage guitar prodigy sat in with the band that is very special to him. Kertson is of course the grandson of Rob Lind the charismatic Sax player for The Sonics.
