The Music of Patsy Cline at the Triple Door Sunday September 8

It isn’t my usual rock thing, but I’ve recently come to appreciate the music of Patsy Cline, and so when I heard STG Presents was putting on a show featuring some of the best Seattle musicians I know playing her tunes to celebrate what would be CLine’s 81st birthday, I was sold. I’ve heard the recordings and seen a few You Tube clips, but I’m a believer in being there, in the live performance, so I want to see how the music will affect me when I experience it.

The bonus here is the singers and backing musicians. It’s a list of very talented people who have been playing music in Seattle here for a long time. The singers include Star Anna, Mackenzie Mercer of the Young Evils, Kim Virant, Katy Cornell (yes, the sister of that other Cornell, and yes, she can sing every bit as well), V. Contreras and others. The band will be made up of Chris Friel (who recently played with Shadow), Jeff Fielder, Country Dave Harmonson, Rebecca Young, and William Stover. I’ve played shows with Virant, Cornell, and Stover and can speak directly to how good they all are, and if you’re looking for a teaser, check out the video below. At the forty minute mark, Star Anna, William Stover, and Jeff Fielder player a version of Patsy Cline’s “Strange” that will be featured at the show.

If that doesn’t do it for ya, not sure what will. I’ve heard there are still a few tickets left so there’s still a chance. Hope to see you there.
