“For our 15th anniversary, we wanted to celebrate Summer Meltdown’s grassroots beginning as well as revel in just how far we’ve come over the last 15 years,” says festival organizer Josh Clauson. “The first Summer Meltdown was a community gathering inspired by the love of danceable music. Fifteen years later we are still at it, and we continue to be fueled by great music and the diversity it brings out in our community. “This year’s lineup perfectly embodies that desire to celebrate,” he continues. It’s a mix of funk, jam, reggae, and bluegrass, with some late night DJs and ambient beats. This lineup will take you on a ride.”
The annual event, which takes place August 6-9 at the Whitehorse Mountain Amphitheater in Darrington, Washington is also pleased to announce new partnerships with local businesses to present the best that the area has to offer in guided river rafting, rock climbing, horseback riding, and more — in addition to a family-friendly extended weekend of great music, camping, and community. These partnerships grew out of organizers Josh and Genevieve Clauson’s desire to shine light on the area and promote local business and tourism in the wake of last year’s devastating Oso mudslide.
The Clausons have been awarded a Tourism Promotion Area (TPA) grant from Snohomish County to help develop their project. So far, local business partners include Adventure Cascades (river rafting), Northwest Mountain School (rock climbing), and the Pack Station (horseback riding).
