Northwest rap legend Sir Mix-A-Lot and Seattle indie-band Pickwick will appear with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra as part of the organization’s Sonic Evolution series, at 8 p.m. tonight, Friday, June 6 at Benaroya Hall.
The Symphony, conducted by Ludovic Morlot, will present symphonic compositions, written with inspiration from the original artist.
For this show, Sir Mix-A-Lot’s “Baby Got Back” and “Posse On Broadway” will ge reimagined by arranger Gabriel Prokofiev. The duo will also premiere a new composition “Dial 1-900-Mix-A-Lot”.
Pickwick, along with arranger David Campbell, will play “Brother Roland” and “Hacienda Motel” and premiere “Creature Comforts”.
Also on the bill are Luis Tinoco, and Du Yun.
