According to the USA Today Vaudeville Etiquette‘s Blood & Bone is a hard track to pin down — not just because it seems to mix folk, jazz and country with freewheeling abandon, but because the music itself is so fluid, with a swinging, minor-key melody and a pedal-steel part that seems to bubble up out of nowhere. They’ll be bringing that unique blend to the Tractor Tavern on February 21 for a pre-release party ahead of the much anticipated release of Debutantes & Dealers. The album is slated for an April 21st street date.
And if that isn’t exciting enough USA Today is streaming a single from the album now. Check it out here:
The website for the Seattle folk-rock band describes the group as “boot stompin’ ever-lovin ragtag rascals,” which also seems an apt description of the community depicted in Blood & Bone, which premieres at USA TODAY.
“We’re living in an incredible time where the traditional incarnations of family and marriage are being redefined to become all-inclusive and based on love as opposed to rigid convention,” says Tayler Lynn, one of the group’s two lead vocalists, along with Bradley Laina. “Blood & Bone is about celebrating that. It’s about fighting with everything you have to keep the ones you love safe, close and revered no matter their relation or status.”
Matt Teske provides the song’s wailing pedal steel, with drummer Bryce Gourley and bassist Sander Vinberg rounding out the lineup. Walking Papers/Screaming Trees drummer Barrett Martin adds percussion, and he also owns Sunyata Records, the label that will release Vaudville Etiquette’s debut album Debutantes & Dealers on April 15. The album’s currently available for pre-order from iTunes.
