Americana / Alt-Folk singer-songwriter Norman Baker has been crafting his songwriter abilities while playing bass & backing vocals, and producing for many notable Pacific NW acts. The new Norman Baker & the Backroads album was engineered by Mell Dettmer (Jesse Sykes & the Sweet Hereafter, The Cave Singers, Eyvind Kang, Clinton Fearon) and Pierre Ferguson (Mountain Con, Annie Ford, Kind of Like Spitting, Man Rockwell). Present Day contains songs about the young you VS the old you, making dinner plans, taking deep breaths, traveling in time to meet your true love, putting your phone down while driving, loss, loss prevention, among many other things. It features many of Seattle’s finest players playing instruments such as pedal steel, banjo, mandolin, clarinet, flute, and of course the usual acoustic guitar, bass, drums. www.http://normanbaker.bandcamp.com
Many, many years before the likes of Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, and Blake Shelton donned 10-gallon hats and began crooning about blue jeans and cheesy romance, country was the genre of choice for drunkards, rebels, and rockers. Seattle’s own Country Lips pay homage to that proud tradition, cranking out debauched ballads with slurred-speech choruses that would make Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard proud. The eight-piece band has a reputation for rowdiness (as should any roots country revivalists worth their weight in Jack Daniels)…

Portland, Oregon-based songwriter, performer and producer Mike Coykendall’s new record, ‘Chasing Away The Dots’, is the latest in a long and winding musical journey that has taken him from the rural farmlands of Kansas to television and concert stages around the world. If integrity, experience and artistry still count for anything, this record will be his most well-received to date. Over the years, Coykendall has been critically acclaimed as a musician, engineer and producer for his work with well-known artists such as M. Ward, She & Him, Blitzen Trapper, Bright Eyes, the Old Joe Clarks, Tin Hat, Sallie Ford, Richmond Fontaine and Jolie Holland, to name but a few. http://www.mikecoykendall.com/bio.html
