Chris Cornell’s latest stalker arrested in Florida

ChrisCornellTIFFSept2011TampaBay.com is reporting that Chris Cornell’s latest stalker has been arrested in Tampa Bay. According to the report Jessica Leigh Robbins was arrested July 25 for allegedly stalking and making threats to the vocalist and his family. Reports also state that the Soundgarden frontman and his wife have removed their children from school.

According to the report, Robbins may have tried to enter the couple’s Miami home last fall. An FBI agent stated the information came from an Internet post obtained during an investigation, in which the author stated that she had driven seven hours to talk to the singer, “but was unable to enter the elevator in his residence because she did not have the elevator key.” The band’s website administrator turned over a collection of hostile posts and tweets believed to have been written by Robbins.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Thomas G. Wilson has barred Robbins from going within 1,000 feet of the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheater where Soundgarden is performed to play next month. She’s also been ordered not to have any contact with the family or members of Soundgarden. Robbins was released on $50,000 bail, ordered to wear an ankle monitor and to also stay off the Internet.

FBI Special Agent Bradford Price said she used the Internet to put the family “in fear of death or serious bodily injury.” He reported tracing posts to an Internet address registered to Robbins’ mother, while other posts were linked to her because of similar content.

Robbins had previously approached Cornell at a fan event, asking if a manuscript she had sent had been helpful. Later, it was learned that Robbins had posted videos of herself discussing the encounter and alleging that the frontman had plagiarized her writings. The investigation also uncovered that she claimed to be the mother of one of Cornell’s children and that she had also called in a complaint against Cornell’s wife for child abuse.

Earlier this year, a Seattle woman was charged for allegedly tweeting death threats to Cornell.
