After hitting hard right out of the gate with special national headliners GRiZ, STS9, Gramatik, and more, the 16th annual Summer Meltdown Festival has recently released more additions to their lineup, and it’s fair to say that this is going to be one hell of a time. With a main headlining slot from funky rock outfit The Budos Band, and additional support from the likes of Michal Menert & The Pretty Fantastics, Manic Focus, Exmag, The Bright Light Social Hour, The Lil’ Smokies, and Sunsquabi, Summer Meltdown is proud to tout what could easily be considered their most eclectic and diverse lineup yet.
There are also a number of local favorites joining the lineup, among them Portland soul/hip-hop outfit Dirty Revival, quirky footwork project Ca$h Bandicoot, and local glam-pop outfit The Fame Riot, an excellent live duo who made our countdown of 10 Tacoma acts you have to watch out for in 2016. They will be joining an already stacked local lineup whose initial reveal included Polecat and Ayron Jones and the Way.
But wait, there’s more! The lineup announcements are not done yet. Six northwestern acts will be performing on May 19 at Nectar Lounge in Seattle for the Meltdown Showdown Live Event. The act that joins the lineup will be chosen by crowd vote. Locals DBST, Home Sweet Home, Lions Ambition, Mr. Feelgood & the Firm Believers, Thunder Pawh, and Swindler will all be competing for their chance to play for the Summer Meltdown crowd. More information about that show can be found at http://nectarlounge.com/event.cfm?cart&showTimingID=234822.
The festival organizers have also been teasing the possibility of one extra special guest waiting to be announced that will be joining the already solid lineup. Stay tuned to see what else Summer Meltdown has in store.
