In support of the 10th anniversary deluxe reissue of their beloved 2005 (but released in the USA in 2006) album Pink, Japan’s premier experimental noise rock trio Boris will be returning to the northwest for a series of shows performing the LP in its entirety. Starting in July, the band will hit the road for a month-long series of shows in North America, and will be coming to Seattle and Portland in late August.
Pink, the landmark 2006 album by Boris, which earned widespread critical praise upon its release and remains a celebrated record in the world of noise rock, will be reissued in a deluxe edition this summer to commemorate the album’s 10th birthday. The deluxe 3xLP box set and 2xCD features an entire album of previously unreleased tracks recorded during the Pink album sessions in 2004-2005. The bonus Forbidden Songs collects 9 tracks of the same hyperactive, accessible and aggressive caliber of the original album, available here for the first time, mixed (with additional editing and arrangement) in 2015 and mastered in January 2016.
Like the original U.S. vinyl release, the Pink (Deluxe Edition) LP set has three longer edits of songs that were truncated on the original CD issue (“Farewell”, “Pseudo-Bread” and “My Machine”). Otherwise, both the LP and CD versions have the same audio as the 2006 release. Pink (Deluxe Edition) also features the artwork of the original Japanese release, made by the band members themselves.
The band will be joined by iconic Olympia drone metal and post-rock outfit Earth, as well as the Miami grindcore act Shitstorm. Definitely not a tour to miss. They’ll be coming to Neumos on August 22nd, and Portland’s Wonder Ballroom the next day on August 23rd. You can find the full tour dates below.
