Book About Woody Guthrie’s Pacific NW Life to Be Released on April 12th

26 Songs in 30 Days, Woody Guthrie’s Columbia River Songs and the Planned Promised Land in the Pacific Northwest will officially be released on April 12, 2016. Co-written by Greg Vandy, KEXP DJ and host of The Roundhouse, and Seattle Weekly news editor Dan Person, and published by Sasquatch Books, the revelatory history of Guthrie’s work as a commissioned songwriter for the Pacific NW will be promoted live regionally in April.

Appearances and interviews are slated for Evening Magazine, Seattle Channel’s Art Zone, KPLU’s “Sound Effect,” the Air Raid podcast, KCBS, and a Town Hall event with live music on 4/29 in Seattle featuring Vandy in conversation with author Charles R. Cross. For Record Store Day on April 16, Vandy will have an appearance at Easy Street Music, and will be hosting a big trivia show during the annual EMP Pop Conference that evening.

Among the next month’s appearances, on May 9, Vandy will be appearing at Powell’s Books in Portland, and a May 26 event at Seattle’s Benaroya Hall will also feature more music, readings from the book, and interviews about this extraordinary material.

There is an event for the book happening at Grand Coulee on Saturday, May 28th with music in front of the dam, with book readings, panel discussions, and film screenings in the Visitor Center. It’s a very special event because it will honor Woody Guthrie there for the first time, on the 75th anniversary of his Columbia River songs.

Vandy will also be appearing at the NW Folklife Festival on May 30th, and has more appearances planned in the Bay Area and at other festivals through summer 2016.
