This is 50 Bands in 50 Days, where we say goodbye to the current year and usher in the next with a daily roundup of some of the best bands coming out of the Pacific Northwest, one band at a time. Today we’d like to turn you onto Ireland-via-Seattle singer-songwriter JP Hennessy.
JP Hennessy is an Irish recording artist located in Seattle. Raised in Ireland, JP began playing the guitar at the age of 15. He studied Music at the University of West London and then left to pursue his music career with Irish rock band the VooDoos. It was with this band that Hennessy performed at the MTV EMA Awards 2011 to an audience of 15,000 music fans.
Hennessy’s music could best be described as “rockin’ soul-blues.” He has deep influence from artists ranging from Stevie Ray Vaughan to Bill Withers, Eric Clapton to BB King, and many more!
Currently based in Seattle, JP has quickly gained a solid and loyal fanbase in the Pacific Northwest. In 2015, he succeeded in getting added to the bills of some of Seattle’s most popular festivals including the NW Folklife Festival and the Bite of Seattle. His music has received airplay on popular local radio stations such as Click 98.9, 88.5 KPLU and 90.7 KEXP, and can be streamed on iTunes, Spotify, and many more.
With one studio EP and a Live & Unplugged CD under his belt, JP is now directing his focus on to a new recording project, with plans of a release in early 2016.
