75 Bands in 75 Days – Day 74: Ayron Jones and The Way

Ayron JonesLadies and gentlemen, welcome, welcome, to 75 Bands in 75 Days, where we’re showcasing some of the best talent that the Pacific Northwest has to offer, at least one band per day, leading up to December 31st, to ring in a new year. This list is in no particular order and it is not a chart or a countdown. It’s merely a list of bands or musicians that we feel are worthy of checking out. The band for day 74 is a Seattle band called Ayron Jones and The Way.

Seattle guitarist and frontman Ayron Jones (Eh-Rahn), has become one of Seattle’s hottest up-and-comers with his brand of Seattle Rock. Jones has taken a hybrid style of guitar playing pioneered by Jimi Hendrix, in which the chord and solo are played at the same time, and infused the raw energy of punk with the inner-city attitude of Hip-Hop. The result is a soulful reincarnation of that iconic Seattle sound. Think, Stevie Ray Vaughan meets Nirvana.

In 2010 guitarist Ayron Jones started Ayron Jones and The Way, a three-piece blues rock band. By the Summer of 2012, the young band had been making appearances on local Seattle radio shows, and had opened for the legendary Robert Cray. The band soon grabbed the attention of the local media and more importantly, Seattle Hip-Hop icon and Grammy award-winning rapper, Sir Mix A-Lot. After seeing the band perform live, Mix A-Lot approached the band and offered to produce their album. The group accepted the offer and they immediately began recording.

2014 allowed Ayron Jones and The Way the opportunity to open up for the undisputed king of the blues, the one and only B.B. King at a sold-out Moore Theater. They also performed on NPR’s Livewire! radio show in April of 2014 and just wrapped up a West Coast tour that included seven states, including spots opening for Living Colour, The Presidents of The United States of America, Michael Franti & Spearhead, and Train. Ayron Jones and The Way are now back in the studio recording new material and planning 2015 touring. With a growing fanbase all over the northwest and beyond, the band is set to soar into the stratosphere in 2015. If you haven’t seen this band, you need to, they are one of the best in the northwest.
