Ladies and gentlemen, welcome, welcome, to 75 Bands in 75 Days, where we’re showcasing the best (relatively) unknown talent that the Pacific Northwest has to offer, at least one band per day, leading up to December 31st, to ring in a new year. The fifth band up is another band we’ve been fortunate to see live and they definitely bring it. Say hello and goodbye to The Mothership because this may very well be the last time we mention them on our site….read on.
Biting guitar riffs, killer harmonies, gnarly drums and bass, you could say this band has it all and we didn’t even mention the fact that they write killer songs. The release of the band’s second album, “Bright Side of Dim” further established and cemented them as a force to be reckoned with in the northwest musical landscape. Their bio states that the motivation behind The Mothership was borne from a communal dissatisfaction with their collective experiences in the local music scene and a passion to write songs drenched in melody and harmony.
The Mothership follows no tired and sometimes worn out formulas, they have a created a completely unique sound all their own. Gritty vocals and gripping lyrics come from brutal honesty, and are devoid of the buzzwords and cliches of today’s overly produced rock.
Once you realize that it’s not about you, we can all move on….’cause I’ve seen this all before. -The Mothership (Piranha Piñata)
From The Mothership Facebook Page: Well, it’s about time to let the cat out of the bag. The Mothership will soon be changing our name! We understand that some of you will be disappointed by this decision, but it is ultimately something we must do. Another rock band has trademarked the name, and they have been touring the country for years. They beat us to the punch, and they earned it. They are great guys and we commend them for it.
The personnel and the music of our band will remain, and the name change will allow us to explore new avenues. We expect these next few months to be a period of creativity and growth for us, as we will be writing new music and planning our next steps as a band. We are extremely lucky to have you as friends and we appreciate each and every one of you and how much you’ve supported us. Stay tuned for some more announcements soon. Much love!!
By the way if you have a killer band name suggestions, hit the guys up!
