75 Bands in 75 Days – Day 17: Manatee Commune

75 - 75

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome, welcome, to 75 Bands in 75 Days, where we bring you the best unknown talent that the Pacific Northwest has to offer, one day and one band at a time. Today we’re going to the mean streets of Bellingham, Washington, to highlight one of the best electronic music producers in the entire Pacific Northwest, Manatee Commune.

Manatee Commune is the musical project of one Grant Eadie, a Washington native that has been working under this moniker since 2012. One of the most promising producers currently working in Washington State, Eadie’s output under this name is very quaint and blissful ambient beat music. Manatee Commune is not a performer that’s meant to be taken as just another bedroom electronic project, as further inspection of these seemingly simple tracks shows a tremendous amount of detail and layering to a lot of their compositions, involving a handful of different instruments that take several listens to fully get a grasp of.

Eadie’s debut full-length under this name Brush was released in April of this year, and remains one of the best albums to be released all year, and it just keeps getting more and more compelling with every listen. If you get off on bands like TychoWashed Out and Gold Panda, we have no doubt you’ll be smitten by Manatee Commune. You can purchase Brush at this location. You can read Jess Casebeer’s review of Brush here, and you can read his review of Manatee Commune‘s Bumbershoot performance here.
