50-50 FEATURED

Welcome to the 7th day of 50 Bands in 50 Days, where we’re turning you onto some of the best talent that the Pacific Northwest has to offer, one day at a time, brought to you by GigTown. Today, lucky day number 7, we’d like to introduce you to one of the best electronic pop projects from our neck of the woods, one Beatrix Sky.

beatrixsky

Hailing from the fertile Olympia music scene, Beatrix Sky has made a name for herself with her bold, heady approach to synthesizer-driven pop. Make no mistakes, this isn’t your typical modern, trendy, hedonistic dance-pop. Rather, Sky’s approach to pop music is way more alike her contemporaries that take a decidedly atypical, postmodern approach to synthpop. The percussion on her debut album, Fever Dreams, is busy and detailed, and the synthesizer work is nothing short of great.

Fever Dreams was released in June of this year, and is required listening for anyone who likes their music easy-going, but with a strong sense of ambition and attention to detail. While the music on this LP is synthesized, it retains its humanity throughout, and on this album more so than any project she’s released in the past, Beatrix Sky showcases herself as a very powerful voice and personality.

Anyone looking for a new pop project that likes push things to the next level, Beatrix Sky will surely be your new fave.
