50 Bands in 50 Days – Day 49: Windowpane

50-50 FEATURED

Welcome to the 49nd day of 50 Bands in 50 Days, where we’re turning you onto some of the best and most deserving bands in the Pacific Northwest, presented by GigTown. Today we’re putting the spotlight on one of the best rock bands in the jet city today, Windowpane!

Windowpane

Windowpane, one of the most popular independently distributed hard rock bands in the Northwest, has recently been winning over many other cities in the U.S. & Canada as a support act on major international tours. Windowpane recently tracked their 4th full length album at London Bridge studios in Seattle, WA that is scheduled to be released on January 16th, 2016. “We were in our jam room 4 nights a week, every week, for over a year writing, woodshedding and working new songs for this album,” says guitarist Tony Abreu. “I would say that this is, by far, our best body of work yet!”

Windowpane’s heavy, bouncy approach to American, dirty guitar driven Rock & Roll is proving to be extremely sought after. Foregoing fancy stage props and theatrics, the band’s backdrop consists of vintage stacks and fronted with low slung, classic guitars. Their sound is raw, gritty, aggressive and dark, tailored with an angry blues essence that bounces with deep & powerful grooves. Their lyrics are honest, open, and relate to the current vulnerabilities and frustrations that plague so many. Their high-energy, emotionally fueled live performances have become something of legend in Seattle’s highly creative and critical rock scene.

This coupled with infectious melodies and the band’s reputation of ‘nothing but integrity’ has helped Windowpane generate a tremendous Northwest fan base, consistently packing in crowds of over a thousand at their own local performances for the past 4 years straight. The consistent overwhelming crowd response that Windowpane has received out on the road as a support act, as well as extremely large on-site-sales numbers in every single city that they have hit, is enough proof that they can create the same effect all over North America. Windowpane has moved more than 10,000 CDs completely independently to date, the majority of which were sold within only 31 shows on the road as an “unknown artist” to unsuspecting rock fans.

“Windowpane’s music really connects with people! It doesn’t matter if someone is into country or heavy metal, if they see Windowpane live, they are leaving that venue a Windowpane fan!” -Jolene, ex-program director at KISW 99.9fm (Seattle’s #1 fm rock station)

A full length documentary/film on the band titled “There is No Such Thing as the Record Label Fairy” will be debuted in many U.S. film festivals in 2016. Windowpane is currently making plans to hit the road following the January release of the new album. “People are really responding to what we are putting out there, in every single city we play! We can’t wait to get back out on the road with THIS material!” says singer/guitarist Glenn Cannon.
