Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the waning days of 50 Bands in 50 Days, where we’re ushering in 2016 with daily features of some of the best bands coming out of the Pacific Northwest, up until the end of December and the start of the new year. This showcase is brought to you by GigTown. Today we’d like to bring it back to Seattle to turn your ears onto one of their scene’s more raucous rock bands, Golden Idols.
Golden Idols are a four-piece band hailing from Seattle that self-identifies as a “spooky surf band.” It may sound like a ridiculous or downright awful genre tag, but luckily the band’s music is anything but ridiculous. The band’s aesthetic is dreamy, it’s romantic, it’s warm, it’s psychedelic (to an extent), is also the perfect soundtrack to a hot summer to remember. In August, the band released their debut self-titled EP, a track of six fuzzy, catchy, lovable dream-rock tracks.
The band is also notable for their very over-the-top and fun-loving live performances, which are filled with a lot of energy. Whether it’s Patrick doing Mariah Carey style diva runs at the ends of songs or Jewel jumping off her bass amp, their energy and obvious joy in performing makes Golden Idols very fun to watch.
The band is a must for people who like their rock music summery and easy to digest.
