Merry Christmas, dear readers! We hope you’re feeling the Christmas spirit just as much as we are. This is the 44th day of 50 Bands in 50 Days, where we’re turning you onto some of the best local bands around, one day at a time. This showcase is brought to you by GigTown. On this Christmas morning, we’d like to give you a present in the form of Bellingham-based singer-songwriter The Co Founder.
Indie folk musician Hayden Eller, known as The Co Founder, is an independent artist in the truest sense of the word. All three of his releases (Whiskey & 45’s, Sentimental Cigarette, and Old Programs/New Beliefs, an EP which premiered through this very website) have been self released/self-promoted, but have performed very well at radio stations such as KUGS Bellingham and sold surprisingly well. All the music was written, engineered, produced, mixed, and mastered by Eller in places like his parents’ living room, the bathroom of his college house, a closet in his grandmother’s home, and more.
Though The Co Founder had no formal training (other than taking an entry level audio course while still in college), his music has a good amount of talent and passion in his instrumentation and vocal delivery. Listening to his music, you can hear pretty clear influence from artists new old, from Bon Iver to Elliott Smith.
The Co Founder’s discography may be small, but in such a short amount of time he’s managed to woo us and many other local music fans like us, and we can’t wait to see where he goes from here.
