Welcome to this Christmas Eve edition of 50 Bands in 50 Days, our send-off to 2015 with a list of some of the best bands in our geographical region. Today, as we anticipate Christmas more and more, we’d like to vent our excitement by turning you onto Mind Vice!
Mind Vice’s modus operandi is simple: to make music that inspires involuntary and uncontrollable head-banging and ass-shaking. A band with a unique combination of funk, alternative rock, Torche-esque sludge-pop, and synthrock, Mind Vice strives to create a unique fusion of musical styles that they’ve dubbed “sludge-funk.” but at the end of the day, Mind Vice is a rock ‘n roll band through and through.
Mind Vice released their Consumer Nation EP way earlier in this year, a two-track release that showcases what Mind Vice is all about very well. The band’s songs follow great progressions, with a lot of detail put into its songwriting. The vocals are fittingly eccentric, with Walter O’Toole lending his far-reaching, theatrical singing to Mind Vice’s songs.
The band is definitely one to watch if you like bands that don’t sound like many others out there.
For Fans of: System of a Down, Twelve Foot Ninja, Mr. Bungle
