50 Bands in 50 Days – Day 21: Ninjanun

50-50 FEATURED

Welcome to the 21st outing of this year’s 50 Bands in 50 Days showcase, where we’re turning you onto the best and most worthwhile artists to come out of the prolific northwest, presented by GigTown. Today’s outing brings us back to the ever-productive Seattle music, with one of their boldest unheard voices, Ninjanun.

Seattle’s Ninjanun is one of the more tragically slept-on acts to come from the Emerald City. A musician whose art pulls equally from soft, laid back synthpop and electronic music and traditional, instrumentally lavish folk music, her music offers a unique crossroads between the old-fashioned and the stylish new-school of music.

Ninjanun’s catalog includes a handful of covers of popular songs – among them A Great Big World’s “Say Something” –  but the majority of her catalog is original material, which she has fine-tuned and expanded upon to create something all her own. Even those not typically into the more synthetic sounds of electronic music will find a lot to offer in Ninjanun’s music.

For Fans of: Milky Chance, Four Tet, Broken Bells

You can follow Ninjanun on Facebook and Twitter, and listen to her music below.
