Welcome one and all to 50 Bands in 50 Days, our annual showcase of the best talent that the Pacific Northwest has to offer, one day and one band at a time. This showcase is brought to you by GigTown, a killer new app that makes it easier than ever to support local music. Today is sort of a make up day because we somehow missed day 17 and since we’ve been itching to find a spot for this group, we’re going totally ska with one of the PNW’s best bands in that style, The Georgetown Orbits.
The Georgetown Orbits boast a heavy regimen of traditional ska, soul, and reggae music. They have garnered international attention as one of the few bands to pay tribute to the sounds of Jamaican ska, a style which has gained notable popularity in Seattle since the band’s conception in late 2004. Their energetic live shows have never failed to impress audiences throughout the western United States and Canada.
The ten-piece band shouldn’t be skipped on by those who like their music layered with brass instrumentation, and who are fans of bands true to the roots of ska and reggae music.
